Jeffery Cross Memorial Scholarship
On March 9, 2023, the Patriot family lost a young man very near and dear to our hearts, Jeffery Allen Cross. Born on December 6, 1988 with a genetic condition affecting his 13q chromosome, Jeffery lived his life as an example of pure selflessness and overcame many hardships. Despite all odds, he lived to experience joy and felt the love of those around him every day. Jeffery had a happy spirit and a great sense of humor. Being able to take care of Jeffery for 34 years was a blessing and an inspiration behind what we do at Patriot Homecare. Jeffery's mother, Syble Hester, and his sister, our COO, Megan Mullins, were greatly impacted by Jeffery's presence in their life. Acting as caregivers, best friends, and supporters, Syble and Megan saw firsthand how important it is for people with disabilities to be truly cared for and treated with dignity and respect. Even in his passing, Jeffery remains a bright light for others, and his testimony inspires us to continue treating our patients with the same care and attentiveness we would provide to our own families. In Jeffery's memory, we have decided to pour into our local communities and act as a bright light for local students as they prepare to pursue higher education. This year, we have awarded 5 one-time scholarships of $500 to qualifying students to help with college expenses. We look forward to growing and building our scholarship fund in Jeffery's honor and using his testimony of strength, love, and selflessness to contribute to the future of young people right here at home. For the upcoming Spring 2024 semester, we will be awarding $1,000 each to three qualifying students. See below to apply.
